The track guides every movement the door makes, so a small problem with it rarely stays small. A slight bend puts the rollers under load they were not designed for, and that load passes on to the cables and the opener.
Goody Garage Doors repairs and replaces garage door tracks for homeowners throughout Phoenix, Mesa, Tucson and the surrounding Arizona communities. Whether the damage came from a vehicle or from years of gradual shifting, we restore the door to running true. We are licensed and insured in Arizona under ROC #320355.
Track trouble announces itself through noise and movement long before the door comes off entirely, which is the point at which the repair gets expensive.
Left alone, these take out rollers, cables and openers, and eventually put the door off the track altogether. Booking early is usually the difference between an alignment and a replacement.
The leading cause. Backing into the door, or clipping the track itself while parking, shifts it enough to change how the door travels even when nothing looks obviously bent.
Thousands of cycles loosen fasteners and let brackets shift. The track moves out of alignment gradually, which is why the noise creeps up rather than appearing overnight.
Tracks that were never set level or properly secured produce uneven travel from the start, and that shows up as heavy roller wear and persistent noise.
Summer temperatures across the Valley and the Tucson basin expand and contract steel daily, working fasteners loose over time. Monsoon dust then collects in the track and works into the rollers, which accelerates everything above.
Not every damaged track needs replacing, and we would rather tell you that during the inspection than afterwards.
Repair is usually the answer when the bends are minor, mounting brackets have worked loose, the damage is limited to one section, or an alignment will restore proper travel.
Replacement is usually the answer when the track is severely bent or twisted, corrosion has weakened the metal, several sections are damaged, earlier repairs have already failed, or the door has come fully off and taken the track with it.
This is where our work differs most visibly from a standard installation, and it matters precisely on the page about tracks.
We extend the horizontal angle bracket to between 60 and 70 inches. The industry standard is 18 inches. A short bracket is the reason a door that gets knocked out of alignment so often ends up with a bowed track and a much larger bill, because there is nothing holding the horizontal run straight when the door takes a hit. Extending it means a minor impact stays a minor repair.
We also fit sealed ball bearing rollers rated to 250,000 cycles and 125 pounds each, against an industry standard of 10,000 to 20,000 cycles and 25 pounds. Worn rollers are one of the main reasons a track wears unevenly in the first place, so the two go together. Every customer gets that specification as standard rather than as an upgrade.
Goody Garage Doors licensed technicians inspect both the vertical and horizontal tracks, then check the rollers, hinges, cables and brackets for related damage, because a bent track is often a symptom rather than the cause.
From there we establish whether alignment or replacement is the right call, carry out the work, and finish by testing door balance, travel and the safety reversal before we leave. If we find anything beyond the track, you hear the options and the price before we proceed.
Call Goody Garage Doors on (602) 607-2226 for track repair across Phoenix, Mesa and Tucson, AZ.
Track faults rarely travel alone. Worn or cracked rollers are the most common companion, and replacing them restores quieter travel while taking load off the track. If the door has left the track completely, that is a separate job: the door needs re-seating and the whole system needs checking for whatever caused it, because a door does not jump the track without a reason.
Where a snapped cable or failed spring caused the door to rack, we handle cable repair in the same visit.
We cover Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler, Glendale, Gilbert, Peoria, Surprise, Cave Creek and Buckeye across the Valley, and Tucson, Oro Valley and Marana in the south, along with the communities around them. See the areas we serve.
Minor bends look simple to correct, but an adjustment made by eye usually puts the door further out of true, which loads the rollers and the opener and can bring the door off the track entirely. It is also awkward work on a door under spring tension.
If the track is severely bent, cracked or twisted, or the rollers can no longer travel through it cleanly, replacement is the safer answer. An inspection settles it, and we will say so either way.
Damaged track, worn rollers, a broken cable, a vehicle impact, or running the door after a component has already failed. The last of these is the most common and the most avoidable.
If the noise comes from misalignment or a damaged section, yes, noticeably. If it comes from dry or worn rollers, hinges or an ageing opener, the track repair alone will not fix it, so we check those at the same time.

Bailey at Goody Garage was on the job early Saturday morning and helped us get our “very heavy” garage door back up and running! We needed 4 new springs and he was able to get it done that morning. We were able to choose the best type of springs for our garage and was very pleased with the price and service. We would highly recommend Goody Garage Door Service.

Reid was prompt, friendly and honest. My garage door, which was worked on earlier this year by another company, was in pretty bad shape and I was feeling hopeless. Knowing I couldn’t afford to pay for an entire new door, I was skeptical to spend any more money than I already did previously on temporary fixes that would still cost a fortune, but Reid offered a reasonable price and explained what he did well. Glad I reached out and worked with this company.
