Most residential garage doors last between 15 and 30 years, depending on the quality of the door, frequency of use, maintenance, and local weather conditions.
Garage door springs wear out after thousands of opening and closing cycles. Age, corrosion, and frequent use eventually cause springs to lose tension and break.
If your opener is relatively new and the issue is minor, repairs are often sufficient. Older units with repeated problems or outdated safety features are often better candidates for replacement.
